Technical Bulletin TB-00

About Burn in

by: jac van de Walle

Probably all manufacturers look on the web sites of others, to see what they have to say. And so do we. But it gets curious to see fragments of our technical information simply copied on competitor's pages, or just the core of our message with an altered text.

From the first day we started, we published a clear burn in instruction for 300B tubes, in that particular way it was written (by me). Not because we know it so much better, but because people were asking often.

So yes, we are pleased to read recently on the Western Electric website, their burn-in advice for 300B tubes, has remarkable similarity with our procedure, as we published it since 1998.No objections again this of course. Much to the contrary even. It confirms we were on the right way, already in 1998 with this.

We are less pleased to see large text parts of our burn in instruction blatantly copied by a European competitor. No, that is not the way to do it. She does as if she produces her own tubes, but in reality they are made in a factory which private brands the tubes for her. But even so, even when she copied our texts partially, she does not write things that are wrong.
